Deadpool & Wolverine: These 3 Characters May Not Return to the MCU Movie

Deadpool & Wolverine is now the talk of the town, especially after Marvel Studios dropped its first teaser at the recent Super Bowl. As the preview excites fans with the returning characters from the two previous Deadpool movies, it also hints at who may not be seen in the MCU film. Sadly, these three may not join Ryan Reynolds as he explores Marvel’s shared universe with the X-Men star Hugh Jackman.

John Brolin and Zazie Beetz have confirmed their nonappearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. In an interview with Comicbook while promoting Dune 2, Brolin, who played Cable, admitted he would not be part of the Merc with a Mouth’s adventure in the MCU after saving his life while the latter stole his time-traveling device.

The movie's teaser even seemed to confirm this claim after he didn’t appear alongside Wade Wilson’s friends while celebrating his birthday. Though nothing is confirmed yet, there are theories that the TVA gets to Cable first after Wade’s time-traveling antics. However, knowing this film series loves to feature cameos, there’s still hope to see the time-traveling soldier back.

Beetz also confirmed to Collider in June 2023 that she would not be part of Deadpool & Wolverine. Like Cable, her absence surprises many, considering other X-force members Peter and Shatterstar have joined Wade’s birthday celebration in the teaser. Despite that, fans remain hopeful that they will see Beetz in a surprise appearance in the movie.

Lastly, there’s a big chance that TJ Miller will not reprise his role as Weasel in the third Deadpool movie despite being a big part of the last two films. Since the actor has been embroiled in several sexual assault allegations and other legal troubles since 2017, he hasn’t had a major project to his name. He has even been removed from other projects, like when Comedy Central canceled his animated series, The Goburger Show, after just one season. That said, there may be no way that he will return to the Marvel movie.

Who will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine?

The Deadpool & Wolverine teaser has given a glimpse of the several characters who will join Reynolds and Jackman in the multiverse. Though her role hasn’t been revealed yet, Marvel has confirmed Emma Corrin’s appearance in the threequel. As the preview shows a bald character in one shot, there are theories that The Crown star will be the main villain, Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier/Professor X’s evil twin sister.

Elsewhere, Morena Baccarin returns as Wade’s love interest, Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Leslie Uggams as Blind AI, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Aaron Stanford as Pyro. Stefen KapicicShioli Kutsuna, and Brianna Hildebrand are also set to appear as the X-Men heroes Colossus, Yukio, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, respectively.

Another Deadpool newcomer is also revealed. Matthew Macfadyen, known for his role as Mr. Darcy in Joe Wright's Pride & Prejudice, joins the MCU as Paradox, a TVA analyst who seems to have the same role as Owen Wilson’s Mobius in Loki. In addition, there are reports that Jennifer Garner will be once again seen as Elektra. The movie’s set photos also teased the appearance of Toad and Sabertooth, though the actors behind these characters are yet to be announced.
