Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Addresses Taylor Swift Cameo Rumors & Praises Emma Corrin

Though Ryan Reynolds played coy about Taylor Swift's rumored cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, he has nothing but high praise for Emma Corrin's portrayal of Cassandra Nova.

There’s an incredible hype surrounding Deadpool & Wolverine, and it’s easy to see why. For one, it’s the first Deadpool film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will also see the return of Hugh Jackman as Logan. However, aside from these reasons, fans are also excited to see surprising cameos, like the possible appearance of Taylor Swift, and The Crown star Emma Corrin’s take on the villain Cassandra Nova. So, to hit two birds with one stone, Ryan Reynolds addresses the never-ending Swift cameo rumors and talks about Corrin’s role as a villain.

Reynolds is pretty much busy promoting Deadpool & Wolverine here and there. Of course, as part of the promotions, the actor has to address the rumors surrounding the film. One of the movie's most talked-about possible cameos is the pop giant Swift appearing as Dazzler. Though Blake Lively’s husband neither denied nor confirmed the superstar’s appearance, he teased anything could happen.

“Movies like this, there's so much speculation, so many people that might end up in the film,” he told Fandango. “I mean, I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie. Anything could happen, and that's sort of what I love about this universe and this world. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”

In a different interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Reynolds discussed Corrin’s role as the villain Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actress has a lot to her name, from Lady Chatterley’s Lover to My Policeman to Netflix’s The Crown. However, fans are about to see a different side of her in the MCU movie. And if Reynolds was about to describe her take on Charles Xavier’s sister, he had nothing but high praise for Corrin.

“Emma brought a Gene Wilder energy to Deadpool & Wolverine,” he revealed. “Mischief, danger, unpredictability—from their first scene onward, we understand the villain enough to know why she's motivated to oppose our heroes.”

Reynolds added that Corrin had perfectly humanized even the most chaotic lines, calling her acting abilities “excellent.” And despite being an antagonist who will terrorize the titular characters, he confessed they love Corrin’s portrayal of Cassandra Nova from the jump.

Jackman also had some good words for Corrin. He commended her ability to subtly change and turn on a dime, adding that her acting was effortless and perfectly conveyed a sense of danger.

Will Taylor Swift appear as Dazzler in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Longstanding rumors claim Swift may play Alison Blaire / Dazzler in Deadpool & Wolverine. She was previously rumored to appear as the mutant pop star in the 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse, but it didn’t happen. The claims then heightened when she attended her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s game during week four of the 2023 NFL season with Reynolds, Jackman, and the film director Shawn Levy in October 2023.

Add that to her recently released 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, with her song, Clara Bow, repeatedly mentioning the word “dazzling” in the lyrics; many believed these were hints of her possible cameo. However, like Reynolds, Levy also played coy about the possibility of her appearance in the film.

“No comment because that's a double whammy,” he told The Wrap. “That's Taylor-related. And it's MCU-related. I'm no dummy. You're going to have to wait and see.”
