Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature many character cameos from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox’s X-Men universe. The previously released trailers have already given a glimpse of the classic X-Men movie villains, and the latest has shown Logan’s (Hugh Jackman) upcoming fight against Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) after over two decades. Now, a new preview gives a new look at Lady Deathstrike as she joins Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) in her fight against Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine.
Entertainment Weekly released new stills from Deadpool & Wolverine for its cover story for the movie. One of the previews, in particular, features Cassandra with other figures in black standing behind her and ready to fight. This group includes a woman with extended claws coming out of her fingertips, and X-Men fans will quickly know her as Yuriko Oyama, also known as Lady Deathstrike.
However, it looks like a different actor will play the role in the threequel, not the original star, Kelly Hu, who portrayed the character in Bryan Singer’s 2003 X2: X-Men United. Though nothing is revealed about Hu not taking on the role, she expressed her interest in joining the MCU in an interview with Comic Book Movie in 2022.
“It would be awesome to bring Lady Deathstroke back and actually have some dialogue this time,” she said. “It would be a lot more fun with dialogue.”

Which classic X-Men movie villains will return to Deadpool & Wolverine?
Aside from Lady Deathstrike, several classic X-Men movie villains will return to Deadpool & Wolverine and join the MCU. Its official trailer, released in April, showed Azazel, Pyro, Toad, Callisto, and Lady Deathstrike waiting for Cassandra Nova to come out from the dead variant of Ant-Man’s gigantic helmet as it opens.
Though this scene lasts only a few seconds, nothing can escape eagle-eyed fans. By the looks of it, they are part of Cassandra’s small army, safely guarding her as they wait to battle Deadpool and Wolverine. Aaron Stanford already confirmed his appearance in the movie in a post on Instagram. At the same time, Toad’s cameo was only seen in leaked set photos before the trailer confirmed his appearance.
The latest trailer also confirmed Sabretooth’s part in the threequel. Judging by his scene, he won’t only appear for a few seconds as it teases his battle against Wolverine, 24 years after his variant’s last appearance in Singer’s X-Men. As Deadpool says, “People have waited decades for this fight,” fans can expect it to be every inch intense.
With the appearance of the previous X-Men movie villains, there will surely be a great battle happening in Deadpool & Wolverine. But if their cameos already excite fans, they should wait for other X-Men characters who are rumored to appear in the movie, like Dafne Keen’s X-23.
Deadpool & Wolverine is slated to premiere on Friday, July 26.
