Marvel Cinematic Universe is probably far different from the Star Wars world. However, director Shawn Levy revealed that he used the epic space opera franchise as an inspiration for his upcoming movie, Deadpool 3. In fact, one particular scene from the third original trilogy, Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, caught his attention and inspired his goals in the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman movie as a director.
In a talk with Esquire, Levy revealed that the Star Wars scene in question was when Luke Skywalker went to the Emperor’s room to hide from Darth Vader. The villain then delivered a speech, saying, “If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps your sister will.” The filmmaker vividly remembered how quiet it was in the movie theater back then when Luke suddenly came out from hiding screaming and started a lightsaber duel against his father.
“The way that felt: The forty seconds of stillness from the audience, then the spectacle and emotion, is seared not just in my eyeballs but in my heart...,” he said.
As this cinematic masterpiece has been etched on Levy’s mind since then, he told his stunt and action team to pull out a Jedi moment by showing them Darth Vader and Luke’s scene from his phone and restudying how it was executed, from the blocking to framing and the tempo. However, he didn’t reveal what part of Deadpool 3 this Star Wars scene had inspired.
Will Taylor Swift appear in Deadpool 3?
If there’s one thing fans have been dying to know about Deadpool 3, it’s the celebrity cameos. The second movie surprised fans with the quick appearance of Brad Pitt as Vanisher. So, will another A-list star come out this time? One of the biggest names rumored to appear in the third Deadpool movie is Taylor Swift, who might play the role of Dazzler. This claim even blew up when the pop giant was seen with Levy, Reynolds, and Jackman during an NFL game.
Though Levy hasn’t confirmed or denied these claims, he told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he was surprised at how “easy some of those cameos have been.” Talking about Swift’s possible cameo, the film producer only said these rumors always “escape the lips of social media every day.” Though he didn’t confirm if it would happen, he just mentioned it was a great idea.
So far, the release of Deadpool 3 has been delayed indefinitely due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The movie’s production has been paused because of the said strike, and until a resolution has been reached, the movie’s release date remains uncertain. Sadly, it may still take time before fans can finally see the Star Wars scene and the celebrity cameos in the film.
