Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a new English-language character trailer for the upcoming Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, an upcoming 3D arena fighting game based on Tite Kubo's popular Bleach franchise. Developed by Tamsoft, the game is set to release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam). The trailer highlights the unique moves of Gin Ichimaru, who was the captain of the 3rd Division of the Soul Society's Gotei 13 until he betrayed them, alongside Sōsuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen.
The trailer describes Gin to "have the fastest Zanpakuto that swallows Ichimaru's opponent with a single blow hidden in a Blade Ballet". Gin is specialized in medium to long range combat, who can utilize long reach abilities to keep opponents at bay. Here are Gin's moves in the game:
Signature Move: Serpent Strike - Extend Shinso toward the opponent with a high-speed thrust. Holding input strengthens the performance.
Spiritual Pressure Move 1: Urozuki - Ichimaru turns his back to the opponent to catch them off guard then extends his Shinso to counterattack. If the counterattack lands, he activates Snake Possession and the attack damage of the tip of Ichimaru's spear is enhanced.
Spiritual Pressure Move 2: Shinso Sousen - Cleave a wide area of Shinso. If the attack lands, it extends for a follow-up attack.
Awakening - By releasing "Bankai: Kamishininoyari", Ichimaru's range of attack increases, allowing for a fighting style that keeps opponents at bay.
In Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, players unleash attacks to take down their oppoents' Reishi. Cutting down one gauge of Reishi breaks down their opponent's Konpaku, which is represented by nine bars of health. Combos can be performed to break multiple Konpaku, and perform reverse actions while attacking and defending. Players can use accumulated spiritual power to unleash Spiritual Pressure Moves, and unlock powerful Bankai powers.
What is Bleach: Rebirth of Souls about?
The story and characters of Bleach: Rebirth of Souls will cover the original manga's Substitute Soul Reaper arc up to the Arrancar arc.
Bandai Namco Entertainment shared an official description of Bleach: Rebirth of Souls:
In Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, players can engage in thrilling action-packed battles with iconic characters from the legendary anime franchise including Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Uryu Ishida, and Yasutora Sado (Chad). Players can use each character's moves, or Zanpakuto action, to knock down their opponent’s reishi in a 1 v 1 action battle, reducing their konpaku, or overall health bar. After damaging their opponent, players can unleash key combos to destroy multiple konpaku and turn the tide of battle. Accumulate Fighting Spirit while attacking to enter an awakened state and unleash a special move.
A release date for Bleach: Rebirth of Souls hasn't been announced yet, but we know that it's "coming soon", and it was noted that the 20th anniversary of the Bleach anime "inspired" the development of the game.
