Three years after Vi and Jinx went their separate ways, they will return in Arcane Season 2. Though it has been years since Riot Games and Netflix announced the critically acclaimed animated series’ return, details about the second season remain under wraps, with the streamer only dropping first looks at Jinx, Warwick, and Singed. But after several months of dead silence, the series’ star, Ella Purnell, finally gives fans a major update by teasing an emotional finale.
Purnell, who voices Jinx, made a big reveal about Arcane Season 2 in an interview with TechRadar at the UK junket for Prime Video’s new TV show, Fallout. If the premiere season wasn’t emotional enough, the English actress revealed the next installment would be as heart-wrenching that it might even make viewers tear up.
“I actually just went back into the studio to complete some ADR [automated dialog replacement] for the season 2 finale,” she said. “And I cried.”
The 27-year-old was careful not to spoil anything but added that fans might also cry with what they’re about to see. She even added more fuel to the fire when she mentioned that the final season would be devastating and nobody would feel good after watching it. Anyhow, Purnell admitted that she was trying to remember what happened in the first installment, as it had been almost three years since it was released.
Ella Purnell’s Statement Sparks Renewed Concern Over Vi and Jinx in Arcane Season 2
Though Purnells’ statement doesn’t give anything away, it sparks renewed concern over Vi and Jinx’s storyline in Arcane Season 2. There are theories that the two sisters’ story is about to end, which stems from Riot Games’ co-founder Brandon Beck’s comment about the series in Episode 5 of the Netflix documentary Arcane: Bridging the Rift.
This resulted in a discussion in the Arcane community, with many believing that it might be a hint that the creators would end Jinx and Vi and Piltover and Zaun’s arc. However, the show might still continue the show but put its focus on other characters. This might have something to do with the emotional finale that Purnell revealed, though fans should take this assumption with a grain of salt.

What to Expect from Arcane Season 2
Netflix has yet to reveal the official synopsis of Arcane Season 2, but it’s expected to pick up where the previous season left off. After that cliffhanging first-season finale, the new episodes may focus on the all-out war between Piltover and Zaun. The new season’s teaser also hints at the horrific events that are about to take place, with Singed pumping his blood through the body of a mysterious character above him.
Fans believe the unknown figure is the League of Legends champion Warwick. Though Singed's plan remains to be seen, fans can expect it to be explosive. Also, after the death of Jinx’s father figure, Silco, inciting her to launch a hextech missile at the Piltover council, her relationship with her sister, Vi, may continuously grow apart.
Arcane Season 2 is set to be released on Netflix in November 2024. Purnell’s revelation is another reason fans should look forward to the series’ return. With several theories looming, will Vi and Jinx’s story come to an end?
