Ahmed Best Teases Kelleran Beq’s Future at Star Wars Celebration 2025

Ahmed Best revealed that he's more interested in exploring Kelleran Beq's story than revisiting Jar Jar Binks.

The Star Wars universe continues to expand, and fans at Star Wars Celebration 2025 were thrilled to hear from actor Ahmed Best about the future of his Jedi Knight character, Kelleran Beq. Best, who first portrayed Beq in the children’s game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, made waves with his cameo in The Mandalorian Season 3, where Beq heroically rescued Grogu during the harrowing events of Order 66. Now, Best is dropping tantalizing hints about what lies ahead for the fan-favorite Jedi.

Speaking exclusively to ComicBook.com at the Tokyo convention, Best shared his enthusiasm for reprising the role. “I’m always ready to put the robe back on,” he said, sparking cheers from attendees. “I know where he went in my head, so hopefully we can make that real one of these days.”

While Best kept details under wraps, his comments suggest he has a clear vision for Beq’s journey following his daring escape from Coruscant with Grogu. Fans are eager to see if Beq’s story will unfold in future Star Wars projects, such as the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film, set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

Best’s brief but unforgettable appearance in The Mandalorian’s Chapter 20: The Foundling showcased Beq’s prowess as a Jedi. The flashback sequence revealed how he navigated the chaos of the Jedi Temple during the Great Jedi Purge to save Grogu, cementing Beq as a selfless and powerful figure in Star Wars lore. A trained martial artist, Best noted that his action scene was only “one-tenth of one percent of what I can do.” He expressed excitement at the prospect of a “full-length” showcase of Beq’s abilities, hinting at untapped potential for the character.

Beyond his live-action role, Beq is set to return in the pages of Marvel’s Star Wars: Jedi Knights comic series. Announced during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at Star Wars Celebration, issue #8 will feature Beq teaming up with fellow Jedi, offering fans another glimpse into his adventures. The series, set before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, explores the Jedi Order’s operations in an earlier era, and Beq’s inclusion underscores his growing prominence in the franchise.

Best’s journey in Star Wars has been a remarkable evolution. Initially known for portraying Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy, he faced significant backlash but has since seen a resurgence of fan appreciation. However, Best made it clear he’s more interested in exploring Beq’s story than revisiting Jar Jar. “Kelleran Beq is where my heart is right now,” he told ComicBook.com, signaling his passion for the Jedi’s future.

Whether on the big screen, in comics, or beyond, Beq’s legacy in the Star Wars galaxy is only just beginning.
