Agatha: Coven of Chaos Star Aubrey Plaza's Mystery MCU Role Possibly Revealed

We already know that Aubrey Plaza will be joining the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. But who is the Emily the Criminal star playing in the upcoming WandaVision spin-off? A new report may have revealed the identity of Plaza's Marvel Cinematic Universe character and it's not someone that people have been expecting.

Back in November 2022, it was announced that Aubrey Plaza will join the already amazing cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Although her role was undisclosed, there were speculations that Plaza will play another witch in the highly anticipated Marvel spin-off. However, a new report may have finally revealed who she is playing in the MCU.

Mashable recently published an interview with Agatha: Coven of Chaos star Sasheer Zamata which featured some new information about the new series. In the report, it is confirmed that Heartstopper star Joe Locke has been cast as Billy Kaplan while Miles Gutierrez-Riley will play Billy’s boyfriend Hulkling. Moreover, it is revealed that Plaza is playing an unexpected character.

"Aubrey Plaza will also appear as Rio Vidal, a new character created specifically for the series," the report reads. It confirms that Plaza has been cast as a completely new character with no connection to the previous MCU projects. This is interesting news considering that there are no further details about the character while then led to speculations that it could be an alter ego for a comic book character. Agatha: Coven of Chaos will bring back Kathryn Hahn, Debra Jo Rupp, and Patti LuPone. It will consist of nine episodes and will be part of MCU's Phase Five. For now, the series has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
