Fortnite is one of the most successful and popular games, especially considering the fact that it’s only a mixture of different IPs. Epic has developed a game that’s quite unique, which began with a type of tower defense game and then eventually evolved into an exciting battle royale game. From then on, Fortnite kept climbing the ladder in popularity and awesomeness by introducing more custom game modes and new gaming experiences, with recent ones being LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.
The game truly provides players with a unique experience that has grown to stand out from all the other games in the market. It has managed to win the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people, including Justice League and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder. The director has been quite open about his obsession with Fortnite this year.
During an interview with Etalk, he was asked if he would want to make a Fortnite movie, to which Snyder shared his ambitions. He said, “Of course!” and “never say never” to such an exciting venture. He continued to explain that he wished to make Rebel Moon skins in Fortnite, but that didn’t really happen. Snyder said:
If the idea of a Fortnite movie does come true, then we’re sure it will gain tons of popularity and success. While we’re expecting a Minecraft movie with no story in a couple of years, the Fortnite movie has slightly more potential. This is because Epic Games has been telling a story in all its seasons for a long time and has added major stars, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, to the game's narrative.
We aren’t sure if we’ll ever see it expand into a movie through animation or live-action, but it’s nice to know that Snyder is excited to do it. Considering his experience in portraying large-scale movies with several iconic characters such as Superman and Batman, it looks like he’ll be the perfect person for the job.
What's next for Zack Snyder?
Following Rebel Moon, Snyder is set to return as director of Planet of the Dead, a sequel to Army of the Dead, and has also signed a first-look deal with Netflix. The director will also produce Twilight of the Gods for Netflix, which is an anime-styled web series inspired by Norse mythology.
Moreover, he's also developing a King Arthur movie, which he claims is going to be a "faithful retelling" set during the American Gold Rush era. Since 2011, Snyder has been developing Horse Latitudes, a movie about two war photographers. However, this specific project has been on hold while the director works for Netflix.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in November 2023, Snyder said that even though he doesn't have any interest in taking on superhero movies anymore, he'll still consider coming back to the DC Universe only if James Gunn invites him back to direct an adaptation of Miller's The Dark Knight Returns comic. Let's see if it actually ends up happening!
