Almost 30 years since the final episode of X-Men: The Animated Series aired, Disney+ will finally continue the story of Marvel's animated show that premiered on October 31, 1992 in the revival animated series, X-Men '97. X-Men: The Animated series became the longest-running series among all the other animated projects of the time, consisting of 76 episodes within 5 seasons over years. The show aired its final episode in 1997, featuring a dying Charles Xavier declaring himself proud of his X-Men as he's taken away by Lilandra of the Shi'Ar to be cured, ending on a cliffhanger with the mutant superheroes and Magneto teaming-up.
X-Men 97' is expected to pick up where X-Men: The Animated Series left, with an updated animation style that doesn't stray too far away form the original design of the classic animated series. Disney already confirmed that it's scheduled to release this year but did not specify an exact release date. However, it looks like fans won't have to wait for long as a release window was recently reported for X-Men '97 Season 1.
X-Men '97 will reportedly premiere in Spring 2024
A recent report from CosmicCircus shared a release window update for X-Men '97, which is set to premiere on Disney+. According to their sources, the Marvel/Disney+ series will premiere in mid to late March 2024. The animated series is confirmed to have a total of ten episodes for Season 1.
