We already know and love Mobius as a dedicated TVA agent who loves jet skis, but Loki Season 2 Episode 5 uncovered another layer to Owen Wilson's character. In Science/Fiction, we meet him as Don, a salesman at Piranha Powersports in Cleveland, Ohio. It is later confirmed that the new version of Mobius is a caring father of two sons Kevin and Sean and the revelation sparked curiosity and prompted some fans to draw intriguing parallels between Mobius and a certain Asgardian god.
When Loki tracks down Don at his home, we witness the affectionate father dealing with everyday parental responsibilities. He grapples with Kevin, who has managed to grab some matches, while also persuading his other son, Sean, to go after Kevin but only after promising to discuss the possible purchase of the snake Sean wants.
The introduction of Mobius' sons immediately drew comparisons with Thor and Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As we know, Loki has a penchant for causing chaos just for the sake of it. On the other hand, his old brother Thor has a history of watching over Loki and a love for snakes. The latter was revealed in Thor: Ragnarok when Thor recounts a story of Loki tricking him by transforming into a snake. In addition to that, both kids in Don's household own bikes: one is red, and the other is green. These striking parallels between Don and Odin have led some Reddit users to speculate that, even if it's not a direct variant, the similarities are hard to ignore.
But does this mean that Mobius is actually an Odin Variant? Fans certainly can't get over it and believe the parallels are there for a reason. On the other hand, they may have been placed there for Loki can better understand what he needs to do in the present.
Mobius Already Reshaped Loki's Idea of a Family
When Mobius somehow saved Loki in the show's first season, the God of Mischief grudgingly agreed to work with the TVA agent to investigate all those Nexus Event anomalies. However, their relationship grew stronger with each episode and it became apparent that Loki has grown to love the people he works with at the TVA. In his own way, Loki began to accept Mobius, Casey, Hunter B-15, OB, and maybe even Victor Timely as his new family and wanted to bring them back by fixing the Sacred Timeline.
So what's the deal with Mobius' past life mirroring Loki's own? In essence, the family scene likely serves as a poignant reminder of Loki's own past and the stakes he now faces in his mission to save the TVA. The connection to Odin, or any deeper meaning, remains open to interpretation, adding another layer of intrigue to the evolving narrative in Loki Season 2.
