It's official: WandaVision Season 2 is happening but this shouldn't be such a huge surprise. After all, the Marvel Cinematic Universe series already got a spin-off show. But now, an actor who will appear in both shows confirmed that Agatha: Coven of Chaos is just the second season of WandaVision.
We already know that WandaVision was intended to be a limited series and would not be receiving a second season. But due to popular demand, Marvel ultimately decided to release a spin-off that would focus on the show's breakout star Agatha Harkness.
It certainly looks like fans are happy with the decision but as it turns out, Agatha is not really a spin-off series. In an interview with Berkshire Magazine, WandaVision star Debra Jo Rupp confirmed that Coven of Chaos is WandaVision's unofficial sequel.
"It’s the second season of WandaVision for Marvel," Rupp told the publication. "It’s very much like American Horror Story, where each season is a whole new kind of a thing."

Rupp also admitted that she was happy when she was asked to return for Agatha considering that she believed WandaVision was officially over.
"I was shocked when they called me, because I really thought that would be it, and I was fine with that," she said. "But when they called, I got so excited because it’s a character I never get to play. She’s gonna be great fun."
This is all interesting since it could mean that WandaVision is now an anthology series that will receive unique seasons focusing on characters within the show. Needless to say, we're glad that WandaVision Season 2 has been confirmed and is coming next year.
The first season of WandaVision premiere on Disney+ in early 2021. Agatha: Coven of Chaos has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to air in 2024.
