It may still be a couple of months before Virgin River Season 5 Christmas episodes finally hit the small screens, but fans can no longer wait to see what will happen next to Mel, Jack, and the rest of the town’s residents. Fortunately, the second part’s director, Gail Harvey, feels generous enough to drop some major spoilers that address the first part’s major cliffhanger.
For the first time, Virgin River will release Christmas episodes in time for the holiday. And by the looks of it, the big revelations that are about to happen will be a perfect gift for Mel, as she may finally meet her biological father. Not only that, but the series’ second part will also feature the brightest decorations as the community will hold a Christmas tree light competition.

Virgin River Season 5 Part 1 ended with Joey telling Mel she had found a stack of love letters between their mother and a mysterious man from Virgin River. Joey strongly believes this guy could be Mel’s father. So, would he finally be revealed in the Christmas episodes?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harvey revealed the holiday episodes would address Joey’s big bombshell. She even teased that the intriguing love letters would be part of the two Christmas episodes, adding it would be “quite amazing.”
“I'm very proud of the way that it all worked out,” she said.
The filmmaker also revealed that Mel and Jack would try to work things out again after losing their baby amid the wildfire. But aside from this couple, the new episodes will also see the blossoming romance of Preacher and Kaia and Brie and Mike. And to complete the list, the health drama between Hope and Doc will be put aside to see them celebrate the holidays.
Sadly, not everything will be fun and games in Virgin River Season 5 Christmas Episodes, as Charmaine’s due date is fast approaching and the first part’s finale reveals her baby daddy is Calvin, who was formally presumed dead. Aside from being known as a bad guy, he has also come out as part of Melissa’s drug empire.
However, Harvey revealed that more about it will be explored in Virgin River Season 6 instead. Virgin River Season 5 Christmas episodes aim to bring more holiday cheer, taking a break from some drama plaguing the series.
There's some very beautiful things, and some storylines are tied up in a very emotional way. There's Christmas trees, there's ice skating, there's lovely Christmas gifts, there's dinners, and there's family dysfunction dynamics that we can all relate to at Christmas. And a lot of moving things. I thought it would be really great to do a Christmas episode because that's really what Virgin River is all about — tradition and family dynamics, good and bad.
