Sony recently posted and then instantly deleted a video that featured both Topher Grace and Tom Hardy going up against each other in a mixture of several different clips from their movies. This leaves fans to wonder and speculate whether a potential crossover might be on the horizon in Venom 3. Before we go any further, keep in mind that Sony hasn’t revealed anything officially about any sort of crossover taking place in the upcoming Venom 3 movie.
The Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK TikTok account shared and then deleted the video, but the X user known as @SpiderMan_Newz saved and shared the 30-second video of “Tom Hardy's Venom vs. Topher Grace's Venom fight.” The video has been all over the internet as of late, regardless of Sony deleting it from their own account so the public couldn’t view it.
The video consists of several different clips from the Venom movies and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 in order to make it seem like the two Venoms are fighting against each other. This video has led plenty of fans to believe that a multiversal adventure might be just around the corner, with both Topher Grace’s Venom as well as Tom Hardy’s Venom appearing together in the upcoming Venom 3 movie. Many fans also started speculating:
Sony officially announced the Venom 3 film last year in April during CinemaCon, but there is no proof claiming that this video is related to that movie. It might very well just be an amusing social media post that has the audience coming up with different connections between its content and the upcoming movie, especially considering the popularity of the multiverse in recent years.
The first Venom film was released back in 2018, starring Hardy as Eddie Brock as well as the alien symbiote Venom as the duo learned to live with their coexistence. Its sequel was released in 2021, focusing mainly on Cletus Kasady and Carnage, who shared a single body in a similar manner to Eddie and Venom, although they were on the bad side. Venom 2 ended with Eddie and Venom both getting sucked into the MCU during a tease for an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, the two were only featured during the mid-credits scene of that movie simply to bring Eddie/Venom back to his home universe alongside other Spider-Man villains. But that’s not all, since a small piece of the symbiote was still left behind. In June 2022, Hardy confirmed that Venom 3’s script was complete but did not reveal any information regarding it.
So, fans will have to wait some more time before they find out what Spider-Man: No Way Home might mean for the future of Venom since Venom 3 won’t hit the theatres until July 12, 2024. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that this date might also change because of the strikes. Let’s hope it doesn’t, though!
