Even though The Wheel of Time Season 1 did feature tons of evil villains, actress Rosamund Pike recently claimed that Season 2 will contain much more terrifying monsters. As if the Dark One and the Trollocs weren't scary enough, now we have to prepare for some even more terrifying threats to Moiraine, Rand al'Thor, and his companions.

In an interview with TVLine, Rosamund Pike shared what The Wheel of Time Season 2 has in store for fans. She also shared what new and much more challenging threats are awaiting the characters in the Prime Video series. The actress explained that the villains will not be “wordless” in the upcoming season like the Trollocs were, who were unable to take part in “verbal combat.” You can read her entire response below:

"We know what the One Power is. We know who the Dragon Reborn is, and what that means for the world. We know what the forces of evil are in this world, we know about Trollocs and Fades, but we still have other villains to reveal, which I am excited to unveil when Season 2 launches. And this time, our villains will not just be wordless. However frightening the Trollocs were, they can’t engage in verbal combat, and we have villains in this season who are terrifying in their cold-bloodedness."

Even though a new threat is on the horizon, we still haven’t forgotten the gruesome Trollocs. Recently, Prime Video shared a Season 2 featurette, emphasizing the savageness of the monsters and their terrifying tactics. Pike called the human-animal hybrids “programmed killing machines,” whereas the writer/co-executive producer Justine Juel Gillmer called them "Nightmare Fuel."

The creatures were first introduced in Robert Jordan’s first novel called The Eye of the World and come in different forms, such as birds of prey, bears, and boars. The wicked creatures have been a staple of The Wheel of Time. Gillmer further explained that this look of the Trollocs was achieved by merging both VFX as well as prosthetics. Marcus Rutherford Claims The Upcoming Season Is “Brutal”

Rosamund Pike wasn’t the only star of the series who emphasized the grimness of The Wheel of Time Season 2. Her co-star Marcus Rutherford, who plays the role of Perrin Aybara, explained that the upcoming installment is much more real and brutal than what fans might have expected. You can read his full response below:

"They've started to accept and have faith in the prophecy and their destiny, so there's more of a maturity to them. It's darker, too, more real and a bit more brutal. The innocence of those kids we find in the village in Episode 1 is long gone, and they're becoming a bit more grown-up. I'm really excited for people to see it."
