The ending of Avengers: Endgame somehow managed to write Thanos off of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline. However, it looks like an upcoming film teased his possible return. Did the new trailer for The Marvels drop a clue about the Mad Titan's comeback?

The latest trailer for Brie Larson's The Marvels has sparked speculation about the potential return of Josh Brolin's iconic character Thanos. While the trailer doesn't showcase new footage of the Mad Titan, it does introduce a fresh line of dialogue that was not previously heard in Avengers: Infinity War or Endgame.

In the new line, Thanos ominously threatens, "There will always be more to finish my work." The inclusion of the previously unheard dialogue has led to speculations about whether Marvel Studios accidentally revealed the villain's return.

While it is plausible that Thanos could make a return, it's important to consider that the new line of dialogue might have been repurposed solely for marketing purposes and may not indicate the character's reappearance in the film.

For now, it's unclear whether Josh Brolin will reprise his role as the Mad Titan. However, it is interesting to note that Thanos serves as a voiceover while showcasing footage of Zawe Ashton's character Dar-Benn. The suggestion is clear: the villain in The Marvels could be seeking to carry on Thanos' mission.

Is Dar-Benn the MCU's New Thanos?

We already know that Dar-Benn is a Kree warrior who now has the Accuser's Hammer in The Marvels. Other than that, little is currently known about Dar-Benn's role in the film. Nevertheless, Captain Marvel 2's dialogue hints that the antagonist is specifically targeting places associated with Carol Danvers. The trailer also suggests that Dar-Benn's actions are significant enough to force a team-up between Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan. That in itself strongly suggests that she is continuing the work that Thanos had started.
