The Marvels will soon hit the big screen, and the film has finally received its Motion Picture Association of America’s (MPAA) rating. As expected, it gets a PG-13 score that viewers 13 and up can watch, making it a family-friendly movie.
Amid the many movie delays due to the writers' and actors’ strikes, The Marvels, fortunately, has kept its November release date. It will even have an IMAX release after Dune: Part Two is pushed back to March 2024. As this will be the next big entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), not to mention one of the most expensive MCU movies with a reported $274.8 million budget, many will have the chance to see this, thanks to its movie rating.
The Marvels’ PG-13 rating doesn’t come as a surprise, as all MCU films are rated the same. However, despite getting similar scores, they all come with different reasons. For example, Brie Larson’s movie is rated through its “action/violence and brief language.” At the same time, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is classified through its “intense sequences of violence and action, strong language, suggestive/drug references, and thematic elements.”
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, however, got a shorter description, “violence/action and language.” This only shows that not all rated PG-13 movies have the same reasons for classifications. Regardless of the films’ labels, it’s good to know that young and young-at-heart audiences can watch The Marvels.
