The upcoming The Crown Season 6 will be the last time fans are about to see the story of the fictional royal family based on the lives of the British royalties, led by the late Queen Elizabeth II. As Netflix prepares for the show’s big return, it has dropped a set of new stills featuring the loving royal family when Princess Diana was still alive.

For the first time, Netflix will divide The Crown Season 6 into two parts, with the first part finally releasing next month. After the previous season featured the split of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, the last and final season will continue where it left off and see the two’s first summer as a divorced couple.

But despite the divorce, the royal looks happy in the first-look photos. In the previews, Princess Diana can be seen in deep thought while on the yacht, while trying to avoid the press in another. Dodi Fayed is seen with Diana in a car while going solo on the seas, seriously looking at something.

There are also solo stills featuring Mohamed al-Fayed, as he looks mad while sitting on what looks like a royal chair, and Queen Elizabeth with a serious face. For the last two previews, the young Prince William and Prince Harry look happy as they finally have time to bond with their parents, though on two separate occasions.

What is The Crown Season 6 about?

The Crown Season 6 may cover the years from 1997 to 2005. After the fifth season ended with a holiday invitation for Princess Diana to join Mohamed Al-Fayed in St. Tropez, the new season might continue from there and feature her untimely death.

In October 2022, Deadline revealed that the show’s cast and crew were already preparing to film the scenes leading up to the People’s Princess's demise with her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. However, the show’s creator, Peter Morgan, claimed the tragic scene would not be seen on the screen, and fans might just likely see her car leaving The Ritz while being tailed by the paparazzi. The next scene would then feature the aftermath, with the British Ambassador to France working with the Foreign Office.

In addition, the new season will also see the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, as earlier teased by Netflix. Claudia Harrison, who plays Princess Anne in the fifth and sixth seasons, told Variety it was the last scene that the cast filmed.
