Due to the ongoing writers’ strike, the production of Stranger Things’ fifth and final season has been put on hold. However, today we did get somewhat of a teaser, which is in the form of the very first trailer for its stage production.
A short teaser of Stranger Things: The First Shadow was dropped, mostly consisting of clips from previous seasons of the famous Netflix show. But the most significant part of this teaser was not any of the footage but what the tagline in the trailer teased:
“The beginning of the Stranger Things story might hold the key to what comes next.”
We were already aware of the fact that Stranger Things: The First Shadow would be a prequel. In it, time would turn back to 1959 and focus on the story when Henry Ceel and his family shifted to Hawkins, Indiana.

In Season 4, we were introduced to the family as well as the fact that they would be of great importance to the Stranger Things storyline. We also saw the family’s fate through flashbacks (but we won’t go into details since it may spoil the story for many of you who haven’t yet watched it).
According to the synopsis of The First Shadow, "Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach."
We got a glimpse of the stage show in March when it was revealed, with the Duffer Brothers being the creative masterminds and the producers of the fan-favorite show. Kate Trefry was the writer of the play, whereas Stephen Daldry was directing.

The fans in London are quite fortunate since they can see the stage show until Stranger Things’ eagerly-awaited final season releases, which is not expected for another few years.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, they will have to resort to the small bits and pieces of news that occasionally drop, such as Netflix’s latest reveal that Linda Hamilton, star of Terminator, will join the Stranger Things cast in Season 5.
