Stranger Things has been a phenomenon since the show's inception as it got the audience hooked on the story of Eleven and her friends in Hawkins, Indiana as they unveil the mysteries that lie deep within the place. As time went by, the group got bigger and one huge addition to the cast is Sadie Sink who plays Max Mayfield in the series, a fan-favorite. When her life was put under the threat of Vecna, everyone was worried whether she would be back for Stranger Things Season 5 and thankfully, the cast photo of the upcoming final season of the series revealed that she will be returning in some capacity.
One of the biggest additions on the Stranger Things cast is Sadie Sink who plays Max Mayfield since the second season of the series and she was paired with Caleb McLaughlin's Lucas. Since her arrival in the series, Max became a pivotal character in the show and even turned into a fan-favorite whom everyone rooted for, especially in the fourth season. With her fate in the finale of the previous season, to everyone's relief, Stranger Things unveiled the official cast photo of Season 5 of the series to mark the start of their production where Sadie Sink sits beside the Duffer Brothers and Finn Wolfhard. The cast photo includes basically all the main characters of the series. Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to conclude the story of the Hawkins gang as they combat the threat of the Upside Down creeping into the town and possibly taking it over. The team would have to double their efforts as they try to save everyone from the destruction posed by the Upside Down.
What happened to Max in Stranger Things Season 4?
Stranger Things Season 4 witnessed the wrath of Vecna who lived over the years in the darkness of the Upside Down. The villain, also known as One, came from the same experiment as that of Eleven, and he was the first to be powered by the study. He also went by the name Henry Creel from before he was taken in to be studied and Jamie Campbell Bower brought the terrifying villain to life which threatened everyone in the fourth season.
Vecna started targeting victims from Hawkins, those who were going through some difficulties in life. There's Max Mayfield who still reeled the loss of her brother to the Mind Flayer in Season 2 to save Max and the Hawkins gang. With this, Max was targeted by Vecna and her only way of escape was playing the song Runnin' Up That Hill by Kate Bush which seemingly grounded her to the real world.
However, in an unfortunate circumstance, Max fell victim to Vecna. Millie Bobbie Brown who returns as Eleven was a little too late to save her that Vecna already crushed her bones and almost took her life. That being said, Eleven still managed to defeat Vecna and Max was seen in a hospital fighting for her life.
