After a long wait, Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 was finally released. Though the series has only dropped its first three episodes on Disney+, it’s enough to excite fans of what’s to come in the final season, with some saying it’s already the best they have seen so far. The premiere episodes mention “M-count” after Dr. Hemlock and Emerie learn that Omega’s blood is the key to producing it and “Project Necromancer” when Emperor Palpatine discusses it with the scientist. So, what do these two things mean?
Though these two are not new in the Star Wars universe, some fans are unfamiliar with these terms. By the looks of it, The Bad Batch Season 3 has just unlocked its connection to Star Wars: The Mandalorian and how it leads up to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, revealing the story behind Emperor Palpatine’s death and resurrection that Omega and Grogu have something to do about.

What is M-Count in Star Wars?
M-count stands for midi-chlorians, the intelligent microscopic life forms that live symbiotically inside the cells of all living things. When these things are high in numbers, their host can feel the energy of the Force. The high M-count counts are linked to the potential of having the Force. Normal humans have a count of 2,500 per cell, while the Jedis have higher levels. Anakin Skywalker has the highest M-count with over 20,000 per cell, making everyone believe that the midi-chlorians conceived him.
In Omega’s case, Dr. Hemlock and Emerie learn that Omega’s blood is the key to producing the M-count Emperor Palpatine is looking for in The Bad Batch Season 3. Her high M-count means she’s Force-sensitive and will play a major role in the emperor’s plan to defeat death.

What is Project Necromancer in Star Wars?
Project Necromancer is a project that is still undergoing research, led by Dr. Hemlock, in the Mount Tantiss facility on Weyland. Emperor Palpatine believes this plan is important in keeping the Galactic Empire’s longevity. This thing is first mentioned in The Mandalorian when Captain Gilad Pellaeon talked about it at the meeting of the Shadow Council, revealing Commandant Brendol Hux continues his work on it. Pellaeon claims that Thrawn’s return to the galaxy will give Hux enough time to complete this project.
In The Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 3, Shadows of Tantiss, Emperor Palpatine shows his interest in Project Necromancer, knowing its importance in the longevity of the Empire. It also serves as the key to his resurrection in the future after his demise in Return of the Jedi.
