Star Wars: The Acolyte will give life to the new characters fans are about to meet from the High Republic era, including Dafne Keen’s Jecki Lon. After seeing her as X-23 in the 2017 Logan, she now joins the Star Wars universe as a Padawan apprentice to Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi Master Sol. The new series trailer gives a glimpse of this character, but little is known about her. Now, Keen provides new information about her role and talks more about Jecki, including her mixed species.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which also reveals exclusive first photos of Jecki, Keen shares some insight and intel on her The Acolyte character. The actress describes Jecki as an alien, a Padawan, and a Jedi, with a mixed species of part Theelin and part human. But don’t underestimate her calm demeanor; she’s a cool and great character who’s about to show her great abilities in fighting off the enemies with her lightsaber.
“I really love her. She's a great character and was really fun to play,” Keen said.
However, besides her personality, fans are eager to learn more about Jecki’s connection with Sol. Sure, they now know that she’s a Padawan, but Keen reveals what sets her apart from other apprentices in the franchise.
Dafne Keen Reveals Makeup Process for Jecki Lon in Star Wars: The Acolyte
As a Theelin, Keen has to undergo a rigorous makeup session to achieve the species’ spotted and mottled skin, colored hair, and three horns on both sides of her face in The Acolyte. In the same interview, she revealed it took her an hour and a half to two hours to transform. It would start with wearing a bald cap covering her head and eyebrows. She would then wear a headpiece prosthetic, and the makeup artists would work out her face by using an airbrush to cover it white, adding some freckles and sticking her horns. Her wig, hands, and nails would also be painted, and other parts of her body exposed would also be airbrushed.
