On Wednesday, Lucasfilm and Disney+ have released the first trailer for Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, the third installment in the Tales anthology series following Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. The trailer reveals the return of two beloved Star Wars characters, giving fans more reasons to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th! That's the same day Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will be released on Disney+.
The next installment of the anthology series will feature the return of the former dark side assassin Asajj Ventress (voiced by Nika Futterman) and the outlaw Cad Bane (Corey Burton). They were first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the upcoming six-episode journey will allow fans to be reunited with some of the most beloved characters from Star Wars animated media, in two exciting stories that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
In the trailer, Ventress — last seen in Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 — ignites her lightsaber as she confronts a mysterious enemy with a red blade while a young Padawan tries to survive after Order 66. We also see Bane, with his iconic hat, in another tense blaster fight as steelpeckers surround the area overhead. This standoff reminds us of The Book of Boba Fett.
The key art for Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld reveals a closer look at a host of new characters and another familiar face: Latts Razzi, the Theelin bounty hunter first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The credit symbol is featured in the poster featuring Ventress and Bane.
Other than Nika Futterman and Corey Burton, other returning voice actors of Tales of the Underworld include: Artt Butler, Lane Factor Clare Grant, AJ LoCascio, Eric Lopez, and Dawn-Lyen Gardner. Series creator and supervising director Dave Filoni is also an executive producer along with Carrie Beck and Athena Yvette Portillo.
All 6 episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will be released on Disney+ on May 4.
