Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will follow the story of the franchise’s two characters: Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee. After a theory suggests that Offee may have some redemption, the animated series is also expected to fill in the gaps in Elbesth’s story before she makes an appearance in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka. That said, fans’ questions about this mysterious Nightsister will be finally answered.

Tales of the Empire will reveal Elsbeth’s backstory four years after she first appeared in The Mandalorian Season 2. She was known for being the tyrannical Magistrate of Calodan at the time and was a big problem for Din Djarin. After appearing in the Disney+ flagship show, she was seen in Ahsoka, proving she’s a strong force to be reckoned with in the Star Wars universe.

Based on the animated series trailer, it will explore the tragic event of the Massacre of the Nightsisters, which was first seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. There, General Grievous led his droid army to wipe out Mother Talzin and her Witches of Dathomir upon the order of Count Dooku. And though only a handful of Nightsisters, like Assajj Ventress and Merrin, survived, it didn’t reveal how Elsbeth made it. Hence, the new show will reveal how she has survived, giving a new angle to the mass genocide.

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will Reveal Morgan Elsbeth’s Alliance with Grand Admiral Thrawn

The Tales of the Empire trailer also features the appearance of Grand Admiral Thrawn, hinting at the revelation of Elsbeth’s alliance with the renowned military leader seen in Ahsoka. After the death of her people, Elsbeth is seen with Thrawn, seeking Imperial favor.

By the looks of it, as Elsbeth seeks revenge, her anger and pain drive her to serve the Empire. This will turn her into a tool of Thrawn. It remains a big mystery how Elsbeth ends up serving Thrawn in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, and that will be explored in Tales of the Empire.

Also, there is a chance that Baylan Skoll will appear in the new series. Like her alliance with Thrawn, Star Wars has yet to reveal how Elsbeth teams up with Baylan in Ahsoka. That said, there’s a big chance these two meet in Calodan before she makes her way to The Mandalorian Season 2. As Wing, the lowly servant on Calodan, will be seen here, Baylan may also make an appearance. Who knows, animated versions of Din Djarin and Grogu may also cameo.
