Star Wars fans have been treated to a multitude of content in 2023, including announcements of upcoming Star Wars films and the release of various series on Disney+. While many eagerly anticipated the debut of Skeleton Crew shortly after Ahsoka's conclusion, there seems to be a delay in its release.
It's no secret that fans are already expecting Skeleton Crew to be the next Star Wars series after Ahsoka concludes in October. There were even speculations that the show's finale would tease the new characters or the storyline of the new series. Unfortunately, there were no teasers dropped right after the Ahsoka finale.

So what exactly is happening for the next Star Wars series? A recent copyright filing by Lucasfilm for Episode 1 of Skeleton Crew reveals a projected publication date of 2024-01, indicating a delay from its originally announced 2023 release window. Sadly, this means we won't get to see the next Star Wars show until early next year.
Skeleton Crew: What We Know So Far
Skeleton Crew stars Jude Law and is set to follow four children who make a mysterious discovery, leading them into a strange and perilous galaxy. The initial announcement for the series was made during the Star Wars Celebration in April, with expectations of a 2023 release. During the event, an exclusive behind-the-scenes footage featured the kids living in a lush forested world. Their idyllic days took a dramatic turn when they set out on a remarkable adventure beyond their home planet aboard what seemed to be a mercenary starship.
The children then encounter a host of peculiar creatures and pirates, among whom is Vane, a Nikto scoundrel familiar to fans from his appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3.
Interestingly, Jaleel White, who has a role in the series as a pirate, had suggested a November or December 2023 release date back in May. However, the lack of recent marketing efforts and the impact of the SAG-AFTRA strike have fueled speculation of a delay, which now seems to be confirmed by the copyright filing.
It's worth noting that while Episode 1 of Skeleton Crew is tentatively scheduled for January 2024, this date may serve as a placeholder and doesn't necessarily guarantee the series will debut in that month. Fans will have to wait for further updates and announcements regarding the actual release date of this exciting addition to the Star Wars universe.
