Star Wars: Skeleton Crew First Look & Release Date Finally Revealed

For the first time, Jude Law has revealed major details about Star Wars' new series, Skeleton Crew.

Now that The Acolyte is over, with no news about its second-season renewal yet, Lucasfilm has now put its focus on its new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew. The promotions for the upcoming coming-of-age show have now begun, with lead star Jude Law teasing a “childhood adventure” that has never been seen before. So, as major details now emerge, fans finally get their first look at the lead cast, while its release date of December 3 has finally been revealed.

People has dropped the exclusive first look at Skeleton Crew as Law, who will play the role of Jod Na Nawood, leads the young cast members, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera, who will portray Wim, KB, Neel, and Fern, respectively. True to the claims that it will feature a tone of classic Amblin films, Neel and Wim are seen holding their bikes as they go on an adventure together.

The show will also introduce a new android named SM-33, voiced by Nick Frost, whom Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel encounter in the middle of the night. KB and Fern are also seen riding a hoverbike, seemingly escaping while being followed by a vehicle behind. In the next still, the kids are all ears to Jod as they appear to be inside a ship.

Jude Law Teases What Fans Can Expect from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

In an interview with People, Law revealed that “joyful” was the first word that came to mind when asked what fans could expect from Skeleton Crew. Here, viewers would see the kids “maneuver through” places where they shouldn’t be. However, compared to the other series from the franchise, he teased that seeing these children in a Star Wars environment would be “thrilling and very, very unique.”

“It is a fun place to be, the universe of Star Wars,” the actor said.

Despite telling a new story, the series will still feature several Easter eggs that reference the old films and the recent episodes and series. Fans will see Law and the young cast members in a “constant state of confusion, jeopardy, and challenge” as they work together and bravely overcome their fears to succeed.

“There’s a lot of originality, and I hope that will bring the feeling of fun to those who watch it,” he continued.

Law also teased that fans should look forward to seeing his character for his quick thinking, charm, and conversation as he finds ways to escape the different scenarios they are in. His role alone will pay homage to the original films.

“If you look carefully, [we] got some Star Wars tech that dates right back, I believe, to the original film,” he explained. “They do [Easter eggs] so well. That's one of the joys I think of this universe for those who know there are these little details always hidden away or Easter eggs that people can find and link up.”

Jude Law Talks About Working with Younger Cast Members in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Meanwhile, unlike Law’s other TV and movie projects, he works with younger cast members in Skeleton Crew. Though this is probably new to the English actor, he said he had a wonderful time making this show with everyone involved. And despite the kids’ young age, he called them “incredibly professional.”

“Those four in particular who worked with me very closely were just great fun and incredibly professional, and I'm immensely proud to be a part of their crew,” he added.

Series creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford revealed Law had formed an incredible bond with the kids after spending much time with them on set. Aside from being the lead star, he also worked like the co-director, co-producer, and co-acting coach as he mentored the young cast.

“He really became sort of a mentor figure to the kids as well,” Watts said. “And he didn't have to do that, he just did that because it was nice and it would make things work great.”
