Mark Hamill is known for being a Star Wars icon but his most recent work confirms he can draw in audiences from just about any genre. Interestingly, that includes horror considering that Hamill's latest project is an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. But you don't have to be a horror fan to enjoy the new show. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor encouraged fans to watch the series for other important reasons.

In House of Usher, Hamill portrays the morally questionable lawyer known as the Pym Reaper. The Star Wars legend highlighted the show's compelling elements that extend beyond its horror elements. He expressed that the unpredictability of The Fall of the House of Usher makes it an engaging watch for all, even non-horror enthusiasts. Hamill humorously mentioned that the characters in the series would help viewers gain a new perspective.

"I love the idea it’s unpredictable," he told Tudum by Netflix. "You know, to a certain extent, that this family is doomed, but just the creativity with the way they dispatch people — it’s very clever and it’s beyond ghoulish, and it certainly puts your trivial everyday problems in perspective. You think, “Well, at least I’m not that guy.”

While it might be tempting to skip the more terrifying segments of the Netflix series, doing so could result in missing crucial character development and some of the drama's most impactful moments. The series concludes episodes with extended and often gruesome death scenes, intensifying the experiences of the Usher family's demise. Still, it's possible for viewers to skip these closing sequences if they find them too unsettling.

For individuals not particularly fond of horror, watching The Fall of the House of Usher could be a challenging experience. This holds especially true for those with an aversion to the genre. However, Mike Flanagan's latest Netflix series offers various commendable elements beyond its terrifying aspects. For those who appreciate the works of Poe, this adaptation is a must-watch, providing an engaging narrative that goes beyond just horror.
