It is Life Day, everyone! In the Star Wars lore, this is the holiday counterpart of the galaxy far, far away that equates to Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Hanukkah, and what better way to celebrate it than having a present to all the Star Wars fans out there? Just in time for the celebration, Star Wars: A Disturbance in the Force officially gets its release date as the documentary takes a comedic spin on the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special!

The humorous documentary on the Star Wars Holiday Special is finally arriving next month titled Star Wars: A Disturbance in the Force on both digital and Blu-ray. Star Wars: A Disturbance in the Force first appeared on screen at South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) earlier this year and the movie will come out in select theaters in the US, UK, and Australia. It will be out on December 5, 2023 as reported by Variety.

Star Wars: A Disturbance in the Force is a documentary film which focuses on the behind-the-scenes of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special which aired only once in 1978 for CBS. The documentary is under the direction of Jeremy Coon and Steve Kozak which they both produced with Kyle Newman under September Club, and their executive producer Adam F. Goldberg. Its distribution is under Giant Pictures. The announcement of its release day is on a canonical Wookie holiday, Life Day.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is an infamous holiday release of Lucasfilm created for CBS and aired only once in 1978. There were a lot of fans who waited for the holiday special to air during Thanksgiving of 1978, around 13 million across the globe, only to be given a terrible show, thus, never being seen ever again until the comedic documentary of Star Wars: A Disturbance in the Force. The Star Wars Holiday Special features fan-favorite characters in Star Wars such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Darth Vader.

Star Wars Holiday Special featured the family of Chewbacca and some questionable scenes with Luke Skywalker, coupled with some animated segments. There were scenes where Stormtroopers were dancing, it had to be that bad. It was so poorly received that it never saw the light of day again. Mark Hamill, himself, disliked the Star Wars Holiday Special that he tweeted in 2022, "There's a reason it only aired once."

If there is one thing that paid off from the Star Wars Holiday Special, it is the introduction of the bounty hunter Boba Fett which turned out to be a huge step in the franchise as decades later, The Book of Boba Fett rocked Disney+.
