Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin Skywalker in Disney+'s Ahsoka series marks a significant comeback to the iconic Star Wars role. Now, the prequel films actor has spoken up about the comeback into the franchise that reunited him with longtime friend Rosario Dawson.
After an absence of over a decade from the franchise, Christensen has once again stepped into the world of the galaxy far, far away. His return began with last year's Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and more recently, he graced the screens in Episodes 4 and 5 of the ongoing Ahsoka series. In a recent interview, recorded before the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike, Christensen opened up about his reprisal of the beloved character, shedding light on his feelings and experiences while returning to the Star Wars universe.
The new featurette from the official YouTube channel of Star Wars, titled Anakin & Ahsoka’s Reunion, puts the focus on Christensen who admitted being "thrilled" when he got the phone call asking him to take part in Ahsoka. He also felt emotional when he began getting into costume.
"Putting on the Anakin costume, getting to wear those Jedi robes, it kind of blows your mind every time. I just feel very grateful," Christensen said.
Although Ahsoka was supposed to give Anakin and his former Padawan a long-deserved reunion, it was also a reunion for Christensen and Dawson, who revealed that she met the actor in an acting school when she was only 16. Needless to say, things have changed for the both of them as they are now major players in the Star Wars Universe.
But will we see Anakin again in the future? For now, it looks like Ahsoka won't be visiting the World Between Worlds again anytime soon. However, future Star Wars projects could bring back Christensen considering that Anakin appears to be taking on a large role within the mystical plane.
Ahsoka Episode 6 has not yet been given an official title. However, the sixth episode of the Star Wars series is already set to premiere on Disney+ on September 19, 2023.
