Daisy Ridley’s new Star Wars movie is finally shaping up. Almost a year after its announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023, the film, which will center on Ridley’s character as Rey Skywalker, is gearing up for its production. A new report claims that it’s currently casting its other three main leads, which may include Angela Bassett.
On his Patreon page, insider Daniel Richtman made several claims about the upcoming Star Wars movie productions, including Ridley’s movie with a working title, New Jedi Order. Allegedly, Lucasfilm is now looking for its three other leads who will play Rey’s two apprentices and the main villain.
Though details about these characters remain scarce, there are rumors that Bassett will be one of them after Richtman recently reported that the actress had a meeting with Lucasfilm. The two met to talk about a potential role in the Star Wars universe. Though it remains to be seen if she will be part of a movie or a series, there are strong speculations that she will be in this project.
In addition, Richtman claimed that the New Jedi Order would not kick off a new Star Wars trilogy amid the rumors that it would be titled Star Wars: Episode X – A New Beginning. However, he teased that it could set up a sequel. The Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed film is planned to start filming in the UK this year or early 2025, though Richtman also said it would happen in 2024.
Elsewhere, Richtman added that The Mandalorian & Grogu would not be entirely shot in Los Angeles, as the cast and crew would fly to the UK for some scenes. Though this is yet to be confirmed, it’s reportedly set to start production in mid-June in California.

By the looks of it, she’s about to fulfill her destiny that the sequel trilogy revealed.
Talking about this new project, the 31-year-old told Collider that the film’s story is “really cool.” She also teased that she already knew its storyline and people would be “very excited” about it. Alternatively, director Obaid-Chinoy told CNN that they would create “something very special” and revealed to Variety that it would be “amazing” and “worthwhile.”
Though Lucasfilm has yet to reveal the official release date of Ridley’s new Star Wars movie, there are rumors that it will be out on December 18, 2026. True to the franchise’s fashion, details about this new film remain under wraps. However, with these emerging reports, it looks like fans are about to hear an official update about it soon.
