Star Wars creator Dave Filoni has had a major influence on many titles in the series, starting with The Mandalorian and showing his most recent work on Ahsoka season one. In a surprising turn of events, it turns out he is also a fan of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, as apparent from Ahsoka’s season finale.
Fans who tuned in to see the much-awaited last episode of Ahsoka season one were surprised to be greeted by its familiar name. The episode is called The Jedi, The Witch, and The Warlord and is a direct reference to the first book in C.S. Lewis's Narnia series, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
Star Wars’ Narnia Reference Goes Trending On Social Media
Dave Filoni was already known for taking inspiration for the World Between Worlds from a major Narnia location, so seeing the reference come up again, fans were quick to point it out on social media. One comment praised the amount of Narnia allusions in Filoni's Star Wars.
Another tweet from Radio Rebellion: A Star Wars Podcast mentioned that the season finale “had everything” while listing down Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones as the highlights. We're just as excited to see Narnia enter into the world of Star Wars, even if it was for some moments.
This tweet from @lizbedumb mentioned how the name of the finale gave them a hint of how it was going to end.
Even Chetan Rakieten had great words to say about the show, its finale, and the Narnia reference.
A tweet also talked about how "Insane" the opening scene was and how they loved the inclusion of the Narnia reference.
Coincidently, Narnia has also been getting some mainstream attention in recent times since Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie, is set to work on at least two Chronicles of Narnia movies for Netflix, according to a New Yorker Profile.
