Lucasfilm finally confirmed in January that Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 was in development after several months of waiting following the first season’s conclusion in October 2023. Naturally, fans want to know more about the upcoming season, especially after Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren get stranded on Peridea. Though the franchise’s new projects are often under lock and key, the series star Rosario Dawson teases there will be insane storytelling.
In an interview with ComicBook during Dawson’s recording of a special Fright Night episode for Manifest Media’s Table Read podcast with fellow Star Wars star Mark Hamill, the actress talked about the upcoming Ahsoka Season 2. Sure, she hasn’t read anything from the new season yet, but she is as excited as fans to see her character continue her journey.
“I mean, it's a big deal. It's huge. I love everyone. It's an incredible cast. It's a great group of people,” she said.
Dawson may not know what will happen next, but she teased fans that they are about to see more Ahsoka and Sabine. Not only that, but there will also be new storytelling that makes her hopeful about what’s to come.
“We get more of these characters in a way that – and as much as we've watched all of the previous shows and everything – it's new storytelling, which is just insane to me,” she continued.” “So, I hope there's new costumes and I want to know what's going on.”
Insider Daniel Richtman claimed that Ahsoka Season 2 would start filming in the fourth quarter of the year, though he didn’t reveal exactly when. If this happens, the new season may drop as early as 2025 on Disney+ and fans will finally see the new storytelling Dawson teased.
What to Expect from Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2
Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to pick up where the first season left off. Sabine and Ahsoka have switched places with Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn after they get stranded on Peridea, while the latter two make it back to the Galaxy. The two female Jedi have accepted their fate, but Ezra will surely not leave them behind in the home of the Dathomirian ancestors.
Hence, Ezra may return to save them and make their way back together. However, with Ahsoka away, Thrawn may start rebuilding the empire by seeking out Imperial cells across the galaxy. As for Baylan Skoll, what will happen next to the mercenary lord remains to be seen after the character’s actor, Ray Stevenson, died in May 2023. Lucasfilm may opt for a recast or feature an alternate story to continue Baylan’s journey, though the studio has yet to reveal its plans.
So far, there are no words on when Ahsoka Season 2 will be released on Disney+. Are you excited to see the second season? With the first season’s high viewership and generally positive reviews from critics and fans alike, there are high expectations surrounding the show’s return.
