It's almost time for the premiere of Ahsoka and we're learning new things about the highly anticipated Star Wars series. The list of directors who helmed the eight new episodes has been revealed and features some familiar names and a few new ones. Interestingly, it confirms that Dave Filoni is completely involved with the Disney+ show.
It has already been established that Ahsoka will feature several directors helming two episodes each. This isn't a new practice as this has happened with the previous Star Wars shows. Not surprisingly, there are six filmmakers who will work on the upcoming episodes, and Filoni is set to kick off the new series.
Lucasfilm confirms that Dave Filoni will direct the premiere episode of Ahsoka Season 1 as well as Episode 1. Steph Green, known for her work on Run & Jump, is set to tackle the creative direction for Episodes 2 and 3. The experienced Peter Ramsey, recognized for his contribution to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will be at the helm of Episode 4. Episode 6 will be skillfully directed by Jennifer Getzinger, celebrated for her work on Mad Men. Geeta Vasant Patel, the talented director of Meet the Patels, will take the reins for Episode 7. Wrapping up the series, Rick Famuyiwa, renowned for his involvement in The Mandalorian, will guide the final episode towards its conclusion.
This is a great line-up considering that people are looking forward to Ahsoka not just for the Star Wars characters but for the action scenes as well. The list of directors confirms that the show is going to be action-packed without forgetting to put emphasis on the story. With that in mind, fans are in for a truly entertaining hour when the series premieres next week.
Ahsoka will star Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The series is set for a two-episode premiere on August 23, 2023.
