One of the coolest things we saw in the latest episode of Ahsoka was a closer look at the purrgils as Ahsoka Tano communicated with the creature. Interestingly, the interaction has led to speculations about how the MandoVerse is connected. Star Wars fans may have detected a fascinating connection between Ahsoka Episode 5 and The Mandalorian Season 3, featuring Grogu and the enigmatic space whales.
Towards the conclusion of Ahsoka Episode 5, Ahsoka Tano and her loyal droid companion Huyang set off into an entirely new galactic realm. To get there, Ahsoka tapped into the Force and established contact with the hyperspace-traveling purrgils. This allowed her to secure passage to the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Additionally, the mission assumes immense significance since Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren are assumed to be with the villain, heightening the stakes.
We loved seeing the purrgils up close but the introduction of the space whales isn't entirely new. These cosmic beings previously appeared in Star Wars Rebels and made their live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1.
During a hyperspace journey alongside Din Djarin, Grogu's keen eyes catch sight of the purrgils gracefully navigating the starry expanse. This moment showcases Grogu's deep connection with the awe-inspiring creatures but now, it is believed that the Child was connecting to something else in the scene.
A Reddit theory suggests that the pod that Grogu encountered are the same group of purrgils that took Ahsoka and Huyang on their journey. In fact, it is believed that the Child sensed that Ahsoka was within one of the purrgils and might be connecting to her instead of the creatures.
It would be a wonderful thing if Grogu did sense that Ahsoka was in there somewhere with the purrgils when he encountered them. However, it's also possible that the Child was connecting to the creatures themselves considering that a Force-user can communicate with the space whales (both Ezra and Ahsoka already proved this). Either way, it's thrilling to see purrgils playing a huge role throughout the MandoVerse in the past few years.
But what will happen to Ahsoka and Huyang now that they are with the purrgils? Hopefully, they will be able to find Sabine and put a stop to Thrawn's return. Perhaps we'll get to see this happening next week. Ahsoka Episode 6 will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
