For more than four decades, the galaxy far, far away has produced a ton of fan-favorite characters throughout its tenure as a mega-franchise. From the movies to TV series, various actors and actresses made their mark in Star Wars and one of those is Ming-Na Wen who plays and voices Fennec Shand in both live-action and animated shows. She reveals that she is eager to return and even called the fans to "start the petition" for her comeback on screen.
Ming-Na Wen first appeared as Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian Season 1 as an ex-Imperial who became a bounty hunter, elite mercenary, and assassin. She became an ally of Boba Fett as his right hand woman after he established his status as Tatooine's crime lord. Fennec Shand is a pivotal character in the Mandoverse who appeared in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
Speaking with Collider, Fennec Shand actress Ming-Na Wen reveals that she is eager to come back and play the role once more:
Start the petition, please. You know, we just ended the strike, and I will be ready and excited to put on my three-layered leather outfit and be Fennec. I miss being her. Yes, very much. But right now, I'm just working on a cookbook and developing a couple of projects.
When will Fennec Shand return in Star Wars' Mandoverse?
One thing is for sure: Fennec Shand will return. Regardless of knowing when or where, she remains to be an important character in Mandoverse which is just getting more and more interesting as the narrative goes on. To date, there is only one show where the return of Fennec Shand is confirmed and that is Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 which is slated for a release window of mid to late 2024.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 is expected to reveal more about the backstory of Fennec Shand which would be set during the Dark Time of the Empire. This means that actress Ming-Na Wen would reprise her role as Fennec Shand in the series but since it is an animated series, she would only be doing voice acting. As for the live-action version of Fennec Shand, her future appearance remains unknown as of the moment.
There is no confirmation whether there would be The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 and given that Fennec Shand's character is the second in command of Boba Fett, she would most likely be seen again once Boba Fett returns in the Mandoverse. While there is no definite show yet, there are still a lot of upcoming Star Wars projects ahead and it could be a nice surprise to see Fennec Shand randomly pop up in any of those.
Ming-Na Wen will return as Fennec Shand in Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 which comes out at around mid to late 2024.
