Spy x Family Season 2 will finally kick off in a few days, and the show is now gearing up for its big return. Ahead of its premiere date, the anime has dropped its opening theme, giving a sneak peek of the vibrant Forger family.
Based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo, the series has effortlessly become one of the best-selling manga with its rave reviews. As of September 2023, it already has 31 million copies in circulation and has been adapted into an anime and anime movie. After the first season’s release in April 2022 and ended in December of that year, Wit Studio and CloverWorks are back with Spy x Family Season 2.
The anime’s official website has released the second season’s uncredited opening theme, titled Kura Kura by Ado. And proving how big this series has become, the music video is directed and storyboarded by the renowned director Masaaki Yuasa, who’s also behind Devilman Crybaby, The Night is Short, and Walk on Girl, to name a few.
The clip starts with an exciting melody as each member of the Forger family, along with Bond, enters the scene dancing. This vibrant preview features the different adventures the trio will take on, from an epic joyride to a cruise to an aircraft. By the looks of it, they’re now ready for the series’ second outing.

What is Spy x Family Season 2 about?
So far, the anime has yet to reveal the Spy x Family Season 2 synopsis. But based on its source material, it may adapt the Imperial Scholars Mixer Arc and Cruise Adventure Arc. This is even heightened by the new season’s key visual, which sees the Forger family in front of a ship and Anya and her classmates before the Eden Academy.
In Imperial Scholars Mixer Arc, the ninth story arc in the manga, Damian is about to meet his reclusive and aloof father. But despite the cold relationship between these two, Twilight will still try to intervene to follow his own intention.
Alternatively, Cruise Adventure Arc, which follows Imperial Scholars Mixer Arc, features Yor going on a new mission to protect Olka Gretcher and her son, Gram, while onboard the Princess Lorelie ship. These two are the only remaining members of the Gretcher crime family and are being hunted by a group of skilled assassins, which Yor has to face. To make her job more complicated, Loid and Anya have won tickets to the same ship. And as they meet one another on the cruise, Yor starts to doubt if she still wants to continue her life as an assassin.
When will Spy x Family Season 2 be released?
Fans will finally see the Forger family again when Spy x Family Season 2 releases on October 7 at 11 JST on TV Tokyo and other networks in the country. It can also be seen on AT-X on October 10, Animax on October 28, TV Wakayama on October 19, and Tulip TV on October 20. Of course, international fans won’t miss it, as the second season will also be released on Crunchyroll and Netflix on October 7.
