The series premiere episode ended with Sung Jinwoo and the group of hunters entering a D-Rank dungeon. Though some refused to enter the place, others decided to do so, ending up trapped in a dungeon filled with dead statues, killing them one by one. In Solo Leveling Episode 2, Jinwoo finally realizes that the rules engraved on the walls are part of the commandments to please the Statue of God to help save them and leave the dungeon.

However, for the last rule, someone must be left behind as a sacrifice. Though the group leader, Song Chi-yul, volunteered to stay so that others could escape, Jinwoo chose to stay and sacrifice himself so that Chi-yul could help Johee. The episode ended with Jinwoo being attacked by the statues, leaving him bloodied at the center of the altar with the words “Courage of the Weak” written on the screen, revealing the Statue of God had granted him the “System,” a magical program that chose him as its player.

What is the Statue of God?

The Statue of God was the masterpiece and the strongest puppet of the Architect, the Double Dungeon’s hidden boss and the System’s moderator. The gigantic stone statue is a copy of the Absolute Being, the god and the creator of the Monarchs and the Rulers, with glowing red eyes, black sclera, and a cruel smile.

As the Architect’s most powerful puppet, it possesses great abilities, with immense physical strength and durability. It has the toughest skin that even the Demon King’s Daggers can’t hurt. It also has heat vision that can fire “super-heated beams of energy” from its eyes.

How can Jinwoo defeat the Statue of God?

In Solo Leveling: Double Dungeon Arc, the Architect will test Jinwoo’s abilities by letting him face his puppets, including the Statue of God. The killing statue will try to put Jinwoo down by frying him to ashes with its heat vision and stomping him flat, but the protagonist will manage to dodge its attacks.

Finally, Jinwoo will get to take down the Statue of God. But as the Demon King’s Daggers can only cause scratches on its face, Jinwoo decides to use his bare hands instead. And though the thick-skinned stone figure still withstands his punches, it eventually gets defeated.
