We already have huge expectations when it comes to Stranger Things Season 5. After all, it's set to be the Netflix show's final season and that means the story will need to be wrapped up perfectly. Luckily, it looks like the creative team behind the series is ready to take on the task. Executive producer Shawn Levy confirms that the fifth season will be on the same scale as a major Hollywood blockbuster.
Shawn Levy recently spoke to Total Film magazine about Stranger Things Season 5 and it was immediately clear that the executive producer has high hopes for the final season. Levy pointed out that the previous season set the bar pretty high and they have no other choice but to outdo the epic fourth season.
“There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth,” he said. “It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”
We totally understand where Levy is coming from. The fourth season of Stranger Things boldly stretched the boundaries of television episode lengths. For instance, two of the episodes clocked in at around 90 minutes each and a season finale that rivaled the duration of a Hollywood blockbuster, spanning nearly two-and-a-half hours. If anyone assumes that the forthcoming fifth and ultimate season of this Netflix sensation will dial things down, they couldn't be more wrong.
What to Expect in Stranger Things Season 5?
Things are bound to get really dangerous in Hawkins after it is revealed that the Upside Down is invading the town. This means Eleven and her companions will need to ultimately face off against Vecna in an effort to save Hawkins and maybe the rest of the world. But will they succeed in saving their loved ones from the Upside Down?
As expected, the series continues its trend of pushing the envelope, promising an epic culmination. As it hurtles towards its grand finale, Stranger Things appears committed to maintaining its immersive, cinematic storytelling approach. This determination to embrace longer episodes suggests a commitment to delving even deeper into the complex narratives and character arcs that fans have grown to love.
With the bar set high, anticipation for the fifth season soars, and it seems the Duffer Brothers, the show's creators, are poised to deliver a spectacular and satisfying conclusion that mirrors the scale of their previous seasons.
Stranger Things Season 5 has not yet been given an official release date but an announcement could be made before the end of the year. Keep checking this page for more updates.
