The story of Taro Sakamoto will finally hit the small screen. Four years after Yuto Suzuki’s hit manga Sakamoto Days started serialization, the series finally received an anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment. After its initial announcement in May, Netflix released the new anime’s first trailer and revealed its January 2025 premiere date.
You can watch the Sakamoto Days trailer below:
The trailer for Sakamoto Days shows the difference between Taro Sakamoto’s past and current life. It starts with the young Sakamoto being introduced as a former ultimate hitman. However, compared to his past life, which was set in black and white, his current life is more vivid as he retired, married, and started a family.
The preview gives a glimpse of his former profession as he fights off the enemies. But being an ex-hitman doesn’t stop him from showing his great fighting skills as he hits Shin Asakura inside his shop despite his advancing age. Lu Shaotang is then seen in an action-packed scene as she jumps off a window building.
However, though these three have shown incredible courage, they all look afraid when they see something off-screen. Later, Sakamoto proves he still has it as he returns to the world of espionage and effortlessly defeats his foes in a bloody fight. But despite the seriousness of the battle, Sakamoto shows his cool and humor as he eats his favorite ramen.
“A sweet bean bun wouldn’t hurt either,” he says.
Meanwhile, aside from the trailer, Netflix also drops its official poster for Sakamoto Days. The black-and-white visual features the young and old Sakamoto like a card from a deck.
