Three months after the release of Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, get ready to return to Veldt in the upcoming director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s epic space opera movie. This time, the journey will be much longer and gory after receiving an R-rating for more brutal scenes and sexual content, opposing the PG-13 rating of the original release. So, to give a glimpse of what viewers can expect, Netflix has now released the Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut trailer, showing a bloodier and sexier epic sci-fi saga.

You can watch the Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut trailer below:

The over two-minute trailer of Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut starts by featuring some familiar scenes from the two-part movie. It shows Kora in the futuristic world and Nemesis with a drink in her hand before the battles begin. It also features General Titus amid the war against the Imperium and Princess Issa Carathon, whom Kora looked after while still with the Imperium.

As the evil Admiral Atticus Noble takes the scene, the conflict begins, showing a brutal war full of blood and violence. The trailer reveals how Princess Issa’s parents are brutally killed and how the sentient machine Jimmy bravely cuts off the enemy’s head when he joins the fight. The preview also shows the unseen intimate scene between Kora and Gunnar. As from one sequence to another begins to play, the director’s cut promises to give Snyder’s true vision.

What is the Rebel Moon director’s cut about?

The Rebel Moon director’s cut changes the title of the two-part movie to Rebel Moon – Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. The movie will be six and a half hours long, far longer than Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire’s runtime of three hours and 21 minutes and The Scargiver’s two hours and 50 minutes combined.

It also receives an R-rating for Chalice of Blood’s “brutal, bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language” and Curse of Forgiveness’ “strong bloody violence and gore throughout, strong sexuality, nudity, and some language.” That said, the director’s cut promises to delve deeper into the mythology and madness of Rebel Moon with “viciously sexier and bloodier” R-rated expansions.

You can read the Rebel Moon director’s cut synopsis below:

In Snyder's director's cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.

Once again, fans will see Sofia Boutella as Kora, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Djimon Hounsou as Titus, Staz Nair as Tarak, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Elise Duffy as Milius, Ray Fisher as Darrian, and Cleopatra Coleman as Devra. The cast includes Ed Skrein as Atticus Noble and Anthony Hopkins as Jimmy.

Snyder wasn’t joking when he said the Rebel Moon director’s cut would be a “settle-in deep dive,” as seen in the trailer. By the looks of it, it will give a new perspective to Kora’s journey as she forms a new group to fight against the Imperium.

The Rebel Moon director’s cut is set to release on Netflix on August 2. A Child of Fire and The Scargiver are also available on Netflix.
