Prime Video has released the teaser trailer for Spider-Noir, the upcoming live-action series starring Nicolas Cage in his first leading television role as a unique take on Spider-Man.
MGM+ and Prime Video will stream the show with two versions of each episode debuting alongside each other—one in black & white, and the other in color. Viewers can watch the “True-Hue Full Color” teaser trailer and “Authentic Black & White” footage to experience the stylistic choices that pay homage to classic noir aesthetics while offering a vibrant alternative for modern audiences.
Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. It tells the story of Ben Reilly (Cage), a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero. Set against the backdrop of Depression-era America, the series blends gritty detective work with superhero elements, exploring themes of loss, redemption, and reluctant heroism in a world shadowed by crime and corruption.
Back in the day, Cage’s Ben Reilly was the superhero known as “The Spider.” After a personal tragedy, he stepped away from his heroic alter ego. Only an extraordinary case could call this down-on-his-luck private investigator to drop the ordinary man act and put his mask back on. The narrative draws from the noir tradition, featuring shadowy streets, moral ambiguity, and a protagonist haunted by his choices, all while incorporating web-slinging action and Marvel lore adapted for a mature, period-specific tone.
The series is set to premiere worldwide in Spring 2026, specifically launching on MGM+’s linear channel on May 25, 2026, followed by a global binge release on Prime Video on May 27, 2026. It will consist of eight episodes, offering viewers the choice to experience the full season in either black-and-white or color formats. This innovative dual-release approach enhances the noir-inspired atmosphere, evoking the cinematic feel of 1930s films while providing modern accessibility.
The cast features a strong ensemble supporting Cage’s central performance. Lamorne Morris portrays Robbie Robertson, a journalist and close ally to Ben Reilly; Li Jun Li plays Cat Hardy, a nightclub singer entangled in criminal elements; and Karen Rodriguez takes on the role of Janet. Additional series regulars include Abraham Popoola (*Atlas*, Slow Horses), Jack Huston (*Boardwalk Empire*, Day of The Fight), and Brendan Gleeson (*The Banshees of Inisherin*, Harry Potter). The guest star cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster. This talented lineup brings depth to the story’s web of intrigue, alliances, and adversaries in 1930s New York.
Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, according to Amazon MGM Studios. Emmy Award®-winning director Harry Bradbeer (*Fleabag*, Killing Eve) directed and executive produced the first two episodes, setting the tone for the series’ visual and narrative style. Oren Uziel (*The Lost City*, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (*Marvel’s The Punisher*, Shantaram) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the Academy Award®-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Lord and Miller executive produce for their shingle Lord Miller along with Aditya Sood and Dan Shear. Amy Pascal also serves as an executive producer via Pascal Pictures. Cage and Pavlina Hatoupis also serve as executive producers.
With its blend of classic noir sensibilities, superhero action, and a powerhouse cast led by Nicolas Cage, Spider-Noir promises to deliver a fresh and compelling addition to the Marvel television landscape on Prime Video. The first-look images and dual-format trailers have already highlighted the series’ distinctive visual identity, building anticipation for its 2026 debut.
