A vampire who would rather binge anime than bite anyone is heading to television. Otaku Vampire's Love Bite, the shojo manga by Kamisama Kiss creator Julietta Suzuki, has been announced for a TV anime adaptation, with the reveal carried by a teaser video and a first visual.

The announcement centers on a 30-second teaser that plays as a manga-artwork montage rather than finished animation. Colored and monochrome panels of Hina flash by to music and a chiming bell, ending on the title card that confirms the adaptation.

Watch the teaser here:

The teaser visual leans fully into the series' pink palette. Hina leans over a case of white and pale-pink roses, long dark hair and pointed ears framing purple eyes, a red blood bag in hand — while a blond boy and a cluster of small chibi vampires crowd in behind her.

No cast, director or animation studio has been announced yet. The reveal also carries no premiere window, leaving the production committee's next update to fill in the details that usually anchor an announcement like this.

What the announcement did open is the anime's official website, which went live alongside the teaser and visual. For now it functions as a holding page for the project, with the visual front and center and further sections still to come.

Suzuki's name is the draw here regardless. Kamisama Kiss remains one of the defining shojo romances of its era, and this adaptation adapts her current hit rather than a finished back-catalog title.

What is Otaku Vampire's Love Bite about?

The manga has run in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine since November 2022 and reached 10 volumes in Japan as of July 2026. VIZ Media publishes it in English under its Shojo Beat imprint, filing it under comedy, romance and supernatural.

The premise follows Hina Alucard, a modern vampire who drinks blood from bags and has not left her house in 30 years. A DVD of the anime Vampire Cross turns her into an instant obsessive, and she relocates from Romania to Japan to chase the full otaku life.

There she meets her neighbor Kyuta, a prickly boy who looks exactly like her favorite character Mao and whose blood draws other vampires. VIZ Media sums up the appeal in its series tagline: "Some vampires feast on blood, others gorge on anime."

VIZ Media presents the official synopsis as follows:

Hina’s sudden bloodlust for Kyuta has her so confused! She’s never wanted to bite a human before, and asking Viktor for advice would be worse than death. Luckily, Rinya is willing to help. Unluckily, Kyuta thinks Hina is in trouble and comes to Rinya’s bar to rescue her! Hina can’t keep the truth from Kyuta anymore, but will their friendship survive the revelation that she wants to suck his blood?
