Netflix has officially announced the production of its latest South Korean romantic comedy series, Lovestuck, featuring acclaimed actors June Hae-in and Ha young in the lead roles. The series, currently in production, promises a delightful blend of humor, heart, and an unconventional love story set against a charming rural backdrop.
Lovestuck follows the story of Go Eun-sae, played by Ha young, a prosecutor who wakes up in a rural clinic with amnesia, surrounded by traditional Korean taffy shops. Disoriented and unable to recall her past, she encounters Jang Tae-ha, portrayed by June Hae-in, a boxing coach who claims to be her boyfriend. The two find themselves in an unexpected living arrangement in a countryside village, sparking a quirky and heartwarming romance that unfolds amidst the sticky sweetness of yeot (Korean taffy) shops. The series is set to explore themes of rediscovery, connection, and love in a setting that blends rustic charm with comedic misunderstandings.
June Hae-in, known for his roles in popular dramas like Something in the Rain and D.P., brings his signature warmth and charisma to the character of Jang Tae-ha. Ha young, recognized for her performances in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call and Doona!, steps into the role of Go Eun-sae, promising a compelling portrayal of a woman navigating a foggy past and an uncertain present. Their chemistry is anticipated to be a highlight, with fans already buzzing about the fresh pairing.
Directed by Kim Jang-han, whose credits include Do You Like Brahms? and My Demon, and written by Mo Ji-hye, known for You Raise Me Up, Lovestuck is poised to deliver a mix of heartfelt moments and lighthearted comedy. The series marks the reunion of Kim Jang-han and Mo Ji-hye, who previously collaborated on You Raise Me Up four years ago. Filming is underway, with the production team aiming to capture the unique atmosphere of the countryside setting to enhance the story’s whimsical tone.
The announcement has generated excitement among fans, with many eager to see how the amnesia-driven plotline unfolds in this “sticky” and sweet narrative. While no official release date has been confirmed, Lovestuck is expected to join Netflix’s growing slate of Korean dramas in 2025, adding to the platform’s reputation for delivering captivating romantic comedies.
