The Shibuya Incident arc is currently in full swing and things are about to get even more dangerous. The new key visual for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 teases the arrival of Ryomen Sukuna, confirming that the King of Curses is definitely joining the fight.
Jujutsu Kaisen's official X (formerly Twitter) account dropped a key visual for the upcoming Season 2 episodes. It features Sukuna walking purposely across Shibuya Crossing. Moreover, the King of Curses appears to be wearing his own clothes instead of that of his Vessel Yuji Itadori's. Check it out below.
But what's the significance of Sukuna wearing his robe? In the previous times he had taken over Yuji's body, Sukuna is always shown wearing what his Vessel had thrown on for the day. For instance, he usually tears Yuji's shirt apart whenever he takes over his Vessel. If Sukuna is wearing his robe in the key visual, it could mean that his takeover of Yuji's consciousness is complete. On the other hand, it might simply be a visual confirming that the King of Curses is joining the Shibuya Incident arc.
The official account also dropped a brief teaser highlighting the other major players in the Shibuya Incident arc. Still, it concludes with the same chilling key visual.
But what could this mean for the second cour of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2? It doesn't really need much explanation. With that in mind, we're expecting to see the King of Curses back in action this week!
How will Sukuna be summoned in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2?
The 13th episode of the Shibuya Incident arc already hinted at Sukuna's arrival. In the post-credits scene, Suguru Geto's underlings Mimiko and Nanako are shown approaching the unconscious Yuji Itadori after Yuji's fight with Choso. The girls appear to be planning something that would involve the wounded sorcerer in a desperate attempt to free Geto's body from Kenjaku. Unfortunately, this will turn out to be a truly bad idea for the teenagers.
In the Gege Akutami manga, Mimiko and Nanako summon Sukuna in their desperation to retrieve Geto's stolen body from Kenjaku. Although they beg the King of Curses to help them, things don't work out as expected.
Sukuna's impending arrival isn't the only thing to look forward to this week. In last week's episode, Kento Nanami, Megumi Fushiguro, Maki and Naobito Zenin fought hard to escape Dagon's Domain Expansion. But just as they have found their exit, their escape plan is halted by the arrival of Toji Fushiguro. With that in mind, there is a lot to look forward to in Episode 15.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 15 is titled Fluctuations Part 2 ("Yoto -Ni-") and will be broadcast on MBS and TBS in Japan. Crunchyroll will stream the episode outside of Asia on November 2, 2023.
