Where was Netflix’s One Piece filmed?

After its announcement in January 2020, the production of Netflix’s One Piece was set to begin in Cape Town, South Africa, during the summer of 2020. It was, however, delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed almost a year later, in March 2021.

The filming came to an end in August 2022, with the cast and crew sharing multiple images from the set, saying their goodbyes to Cape Town. Matt Owens, the showrunner of the One Piece live-action adaptation, also shared a message on Instagram in September, expressing his gratitude towards the show’s cast and crew for giving their best during production in Cape Town.

The Plot Of Netflix’s One Piece

The live-action Netflix series is based on the highest-selling manga series in Japan and also has an anime of its own with the same name. Most of the adventure in this series takes place on the sea as Luffy strives to attain freedom. The manga, anime, and live-action series are named after a devil fruit that Luffy is searching for in order to become the King of the Pirates. For that, he will need the help of a complete crew and search for a ship that he can sail.

Inaki Godoy portrays the role of Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd plays Nami, Mackenyu plays Roronoa Zoro, Taz Skylar plays Sanji, Jacob Gibson plays Usopp, and much more! Eiichiro Oda is the mastermind behind the manga and is also the executive producer of the upcoming series. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with Becky Clements and Mary Adelstein also being executive producers.
