Netflix has been facing some difficulty in getting subscribers on board with the streaming company’s Games feature ever since its release in 2021. The company’s collection mostly revolved around popular shows, including Stranger Things, The Queen’s Gambit, and Sonic Prime. However, from the looks of it, Netflix might be thinking of expanding its library in a huge way with a game from a popular franchise.

As per a recent The Wall Street Journal report, Netflix wants to boost its offerings by working with third-party publishers, including Take-Two Interactive. The report claims that the streaming company is considering making a Grand Theft Auto game accessible through its service. Currently, we aren’t sure if Netflix will add an already-released GTA game to its video game collection or a brand-new title.

As of now, video games present on Netflix only work through the mobile app so that subscribers can install games to their mobile like any other game via Google Play or the App Store. The major difference is that mobile games installed through Netflix don’t really have any in-app purchases, which is quite efficient.

When this news came out, plenty of GTA fans took to social media claiming that a sequel or remake of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars would go perfectly with Netflix’s format. A portable take on the GTA franchise, the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars game initially launched on Nintendo DS, and later came to Android, PSP, and iOS.

The game took an interesting top-down approach but was mostly similar to the first two games in the GTA series when it came to the perspective. The GTA game was a huge success and ended up earning countless positive reviews and multiple awards from a wide range of outlets.

Considering the positive words Chinatown Wars has received over the years, its sequel might attract plenty of attention on Netflix. Netflix Games isn’t getting much attention right now from subscribers, but maybe with a huge exclusive it could become something much more. It's impossible to know if Take-Two would even consider something like that, but Netflix is clearly interested in having its own Grand Theft Auto game.
