The launch of the highly-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 is only a couple of days away. Prior to the game’s release date, reviews for Spider-Man 2 are officially up on the internet, and from the looks of it, Insomniac Games has one more hit on their hands.
The game is receiving great review scores, currently sitting at 91, proving that rumblings about the game's internal performance were justified. CaroleQuintaine states that Spider-Man 2’s “deep gameplay and its duality between Miles and Peter offers an experience that is undoubtedly the most incredible in terms of superhero video games.” Having played as both these heroes in their own stand-alone games, we fans already have a deep connection with these characters. So the fan base will certainly agree that the opportunity to have both their stories intertwined in the new game certainly gets us excited.
Considering how Marvel’s Spider-Man received a score of 88, its sequel is definitely performing better with some extra points and receiving excellent reviews. CGMagazine also appraised the game by saying, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 builds upon its strong foundation to present a captivating narrative and gameplay experience that stands in the franchise’s upper echelon of tales.”
A similar point was also presented by GamesRadar+, which said that Spider-Man 2 “improves on its predecessor across the board, while saluting the superhero genre over the last 30 years as a whole.” This tells us that Insomniac Games was successfully able to take the best parts from the previous two games and build upon them further, which fans were expecting from the company.
These are only a few reviews that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received from different critics regarding its gameplay, features, and exciting storyline. However, it’s important to note that the Metacritic score might change over time, possibly even in the next hour or so, since it’s only the initial score. Usually, with time, the Metacritic scores do take a tumble. So players can expect this score to change by a point or two or maybe even more.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 all over the globe on October 20, 2023. Currently, there’s no talk of the game receiving a PC version, but there was some news of a price point. Similar to the other Sony AAA video games, it’s going to cost $70 at the time of its release, and this is the only way players can get their hands on the game. Unfortunately, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t be available through PS Plus.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Synopsis & Plot
The official PlayStation synopsis of the game reads, "Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man franchise for PS5. Swing, jump and utilize the new Web Wings to travel across Marvel's New York, quickly switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales to experience different stories and epic new powers, as the iconic villain Venom threatens to destroy their lives, their city and the ones they love."
While switching between Miles Morales and Peter Parker, players get to swing through different locations, including Brooklyn, Queens, Coney Islands, and more. The two web slingers protect the city by going up against new and old enemies, with the three major ones being Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and the Lizard.
With Venom’s aggressive behavior and qualities in Peter, will he be able to stay sane through it all and keep fighting for his city? We’ll just have to wait and see what happens once Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches in a few days!
