Owing to the latest Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 glitch, players can now play more of Venom apart from what was initially intended. Videos have been showing up online of the glitch allowing fans to play as Venom in the game. During the main story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players get to control the powerful symbiote for a short amount of time.
They even get to go up against (and later even kill) Kraven the Hunter in Times Square, but the recently discovered glitch allows players to explore the open world map for the first time while being the character. TikTok user SpectrexGaming posted a video of the glitch, in which he shared how players can take advantage of this glitch.
How to play as Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2?
The video revealed that in order to free roam as the powerful villain, players are required to play as Venom in the "Don't Be Scared" mission. Before facing Kraven the Hunter in Times Square, gamers should begin climbing the building to the stage’s left that’s covered with malfunctioning screens, hug the billboard while on their way up, and then turn left.
Since Venom doesn’t really come with a Climb ability similar to Peter and Miles, players should continuously use the Dash move by pressing X in order to get to the top of the building. Once you’re over the building, jump toward the ground, turn left, and then continue moving for the next few blocks.
Once these steps have been properly followed, the symbiote will become fully playable in Spider-Man 2’s open world. You can watch the complete how-to video below:
Players have been using this glitch to the fullest, performing different activities as the character, such as visiting Coney Island, riding a bicycle without his hands touching the handlebar and more. Not only this, but gamers can also interact with other elements on the map, including doing the “Wakanda Forever” salute that Miles does in front of the Wakandan Embassy.
Will there be a Venom game after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
Although this glitch is exciting for fans desperate to play the symbiote, it isn’t an official feature that has been added to the game. This was simply a technical issue that will be fixed by Insomniac Games and PlayStation in the next few weeks. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was made to be played as Miles Morales and Peter Parker, with a short part from Venom being introduced.
While Venom wasn’t intended to be playable apart from the Times Square mission in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it doesn’t mean that players won’t ever get to completely control the symbiote. After the release of Spider-Man 2, senior narrative director Jon Paquette teased that a complete Venom spin-off might be on the way. During an interview with Insider, he said:
Although the game hasn't been confirmed, we at least know that the developers are open to the idea of a Venom game. For now, Insomniac Games seems to be taking a break from Spider-Man 2, with most of the team already moving on to their next epic project, Wolverine.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently available to play exclusively on PlayStation 5.
