It is an action-adventure single-player in a third-person perspective video game. It will be set nine months after what happened in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales featuring the titular web-shooting heroes.
Peter Parker and Miles Morales are facing a struggle together as they steer through their respective lives while facing various a including the private militia of mercenaries under the helm of Kraven the Hunter, Lizard, Sandman, and Venom. The Venom symbiote bonds itself to Peter Parker and similar to what happened in Maguire's Spider-Man 3, in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the symbiote also negatively influences Peter to the point of having his personal relationships being destroyed.
Insomniac Games Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar shared to Marvel.com:
I think there's a reason why it's called Marvel's Spider-Man 2 , because we wanted to have a game featuring both Peter and Miles. I think that was the goal; it was, 'We want to tell an epic story of two Spider-Men,' and I feel like we've done that… We've delivered that. You just look at the scale of the game with doubling the size of the city with Queens and Brooklyn, adding new traversal abilities with the Web Wings, and then just the whole role that the symbiote plays in both gameplay and the story. We knew when we said, 'It's gonna be called Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ,' we had to earn that title, and I think that was the journey we wanted to go on.
