Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive a New Game+ mode, but it won’t be until after the game’s release. Spider-Man 2 has become one of the most anticipated games of 2023, which will continue the storyline of PlayStation’s most beloved franchise that includes Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, both games which had epic stories about Miles Morales and Peter Parker.
The games also featured some of the best and most exciting superhero gameplay to ever exist. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 plans on increasing the level tenfold by adding the black suit, Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and a lot more to the game. So, it’s safe to say that players will have a lot to explore in the game and things to do once it is released.
However, not only this but Insomniac Games has also decided to welcome players back into the game once they’ve finished it. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to receive a New Game+ option at a certain point after the game’s release. The developers haven’t officially confirmed when this might happen, but we sure do hope it’s not a long time after the game’s launch.
Insomniac Games’ director of community and marketing James Stevenson posted on social media, encouraging players to download Spider-Man 2’s release update. Fans took this opportunity to ask him some quick questions about the patch’s content, such as asking if "new game plus and mission replay" would be available at launch. To this, Stevenson confirmed that the New Game+ won’t be available at the game’s release.
For those of you who might not know, New Game+ allows gamers to restart a game from the very start while keeping some crucial parts of their previous save such as skill unlocks, abilities, cosmetics, etc. We aren’t quite sure as to how exactly the New Game+ will work here, but it might give players the ability to use things such as their symbiote powers from the game’s start, but that’s just a theory.
Considering that players won’t unlock each ability in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 until they’re close to completely finishing the game, they might be unable to make full use of all of their new abilities, skills, and gadgets without receiving New Game+. Insomniac Games also plans on adding a feature that will allow gamers to play missions all over again.
Once players finish Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, they won’t be able to go back to replay missions unless they plan on completely restarting the game. The New Game+ mode helps to increase the game’s replayability and brings some gamers back in the game to replay their beloved missions or start all over again from the start with all of their powers once they have been added.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
